Speaking English is one thing.
Acting in English is another.
This isn't an English class. English is the language we work in. Acting is what we work on.Who's in the room

L'Antre
A practice space in English, for professional actors — a group working on the edges of Paris.
French actors fluent in English, bilingual, and international actors
Professional actors. Not a beginner class.
You don't need to be bilingual. You do need enough English to work fully in it.
Send a short monologue or read a short text for us. It isn't an audition — it just confirms you're comfortable enough to work with the group.

The work — and who leads it
Not a method. A way of finding yours.
The aim isn't to apply somebody else's method — it's to understand your own mechanisms. Some things arrive immediately. Others take more digging.
Technique isn't the opposite of spontaneity. Technique can be something to rely on when spontaneity alone isn't enough. What interests us isn't a system to teach — it's how you approach a text, and how that changes as you go.
One material. Different ways of working.
Over several weeks, different trainings work from the same play or screenplay — studying its structure, scenes, circumstances and relationships, and returning to it to train different aspects of the actor's instrument.
Different roots. The same rigour.
Sei draws on the traditions he trained in, and the ones he sought out afterward — building a way of working that stays close to the actor's own instincts rather than a fixed system.
The text is the starting point, not the constraint. Technique here is a way to open a scene up — to find what's actually happening in it — rather than a filter to run every scene through the same way.
Different traditions. One practical aim.
As with the other Acting in English trainings, sessions return to a shared play or screenplay over several weeks, working a different aspect of the actor's craft each time.
Luca Fontaine trained at the Juilliard School in New York, graduating in 2022 as the program's first French and Italian actor. He has since worked in theatre, television and film across the US and Europe — including an Off-Broadway debut at LaMama — and works as a dialect coach on stage and screen.
Sei Shiomi trained in the US at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the Stella Adler Studio. He began as an actor and director in New York, then set out to explore other approaches to acting and actor training — a search that took him to Russia, Bulgaria, Norway, Italy and England, before he settled in Paris in the late 1990s. His work draws on a range of acting traditions and techniques to build a practical, organic approach to performance.
